about

Our recently completed US tour was somewhat successful. There were many ups and downs, but in the end we were finally able to perform again to audiences and get our chops back up to speed. The other different thing about this tour was the fact that Matt Tong stayed home and Dante from Mourning [a] BLKstar filled in. The immediate impact of this change was felt as all of a sudden certain songs didn’t work the same way anymore and others took on an entirely new dimension and life.

The set was originally composed of a selection of songs form each record that we thought Dante could handle and get together in a relatively short period of time. As we began to play and get more comfortable with this new lineup, there were certain songs that just had a new feel and we began to play more. In many cases these were older songs that had grown stale or redundant that just had a new energy and perspective. It was a really exciting thing. We hope to share all of the highlights from this tour with you over the next series of posts.

Since we ended our Covid shortened US tour in our hometown of Atlanta, it felt appropriate to return to this series with the final show of the tour, our triumphant return to Atlanta and a packed EARL. This night is something of a blur, but it encompasses nearly all of the songs were tackled during this tour.

about

Algiers Atlanta, Georgia

Algiers is a band of musicians born in Atlanta, Georgia, the rotten hub of the Ol’ American South, where W.E.B. Dubois once saw a riot goin’ on, and where the hell and highwater swirls ‘round to the knees.
