about

Another very long tour is in the books. We didn't really have a day off between the European and US dates, having to more or less fly back and drive straight to SXSW in Austin, Texas. This particular tour was more grueling than usual. Just more to learn and do with this new record and these new songs. For those that were able to see it, there was an entire video program that we were working on most days in the van leading up the show time, on top of interviews and press. Most show days were full 14 or 15 hour days with very few actual days off that weren't another 8 hours in the van traveling to the next city or waiting in line at the airport and taking a long flight.

All this to say, sorry it's been a minute. We recorded the entire tour. We filmed several full shows as well. All of us can attest that this was the best and most consistent that we have ever been as a band and live act. Fugazi said something along the lines of "never being able to do more than two excellent shows in a row" when on tour. I think that's the gist of it. There are so many factors, including the crowd, that shape every evening. Some nights the sound is just not that clear compared to the previous night and it's harder to hear what your bandmates are doing and play off of it. This run, however, things were different. There was some point late in the Europe leg where we looked at each other after there show and said "that was like 18 or 19 fantastic shows in row". That's rare for us. So we're happy to finally be able to start sharing the highlights with you in a hopefully more regular fashion.

Dublin was the first show of the tour. And it was the best first show that I think we've ever had. There are usually issues with equipment, or we're still learning the material or getting comfortable with it. But in this case, I suppose since we spent 6 weeks or more rehearsing throughout the fall, we were on top of our game from the first note. So without further adieu, here is the complete Dublin show from the Workman's Club.

about

Algiers Atlanta, Georgia

Algiers is a band of musicians born in Atlanta, Georgia, the rotten hub of the Ol’ American South, where W.E.B. Dubois once saw a riot goin’ on, and where the hell and highwater swirls ‘round to the knees.
