The conversations about album sequencing and record label input reminded us that there is still another unreleased track from There Is No Year that we will exclusively share with you all. The song is untitled in theory. It was a strong early demo from the 'There Is No Year' sessions. As we toiled away in the studio, this was one of the tracks that was saved for the end of the process. We reached the final weekend of tracking and had several incarnations of the song, trying to find a way forward that would help Franklin write vocals. Ultimately he arrived at this point, we did not use the guitar or bass ideas, had LaToya and Kyle from Mourning A BLKstar add some background vocals, and left the song as a heavier electronic number.

Originally the song was somewhere towards the end of side 2 of the record. After the album was turned in and mastered as well as an additional EP of material that was planned for release roughly 6 months after the album release, the record label stepped in and suggested that we just combine the LP and EP into one release of the strongest tracks.

This did not make the cut as 'We Can't Be Found' and 'Unoccupied' were added to the record and 'We Need Some Discipline' was also cut. The EP was scrapped and 'Sub_Bass' and 'It All Comes Around Again' were later released on a limited charity 7 inch. There is another EP song that may some day see the light of day in another form.

The guitar and bass version of this may one day become another song. It was a very Cure-ish element. Lots of chorus. The background vocals by Kyle and LaToya were later sampled and recontextualized in Nun Gun's 'On Neurath's Boat'.

The working title of this song was 'Tech Death' which was then changed to 'They Comin'' for the album sleeve. Confusingly, 'They Comin'' is a different unreleased Algiers song that we rerecorded for the new LP and also contains a large portion of the 'Dispossession' verses. Are you lost yet? Oddly, this tune wouldn't be too out of place on the new record either, with some of the different vocal deliveries from Franklin and some incredible filter sweeps on the bass synths.
