about

We thought it would be appropriate to share all of our remix work that we have done for others this past year (and previous). Not being on the road gave us a lot more time to have fun reworking songs of friends and fans. Here are six.

These were all worked up by Ryan, Lee, and Matt. Franklin was absent this whole time focused on writing our next record. (it's finished...he wrote too many songs though!)

Ganser is a band that was supposed to share the 2nd half of the US No Year tour with us before it was canceled. They put out a record this past year that made a ton of best of lists. The Ganser remix was mostly Lee. He was trying to channel some of the Arthur Russell disco stuff like Loose Joints or Dinosaur L.

Kaufmann Frust is a band that opened for us in Reutlingen, Germany a couple of years ago. This remix is part of a larger conceptual project of theirs. This remix was the brainchild of Matt. He was trying to channel some of his forgotten nights at Berghain.

Mourning [A] BLKstar are our good friends. We've toured with them and had them guest on There Is No Year. They also appear on Mondo Decay and were on the Colbert Show with us. I don't think this one has come out yet. This one was mostly Ryan's handiwork. He was learning some of his new drum and synthesizer gear and this was his guinea pig.

Soviet Soviet are our friends from Italy. This remix came out in the beginning of the summer on an EP of theirs. They also run a label that put out the cassette versions of all of our records. This remix was mostly Lee learning some space echo and delay equipment.

about

Algiers Atlanta, Georgia

Algiers is a band of musicians born in Atlanta, Georgia, the rotten hub of the Ol’ American South, where W.E.B. Dubois once saw a riot goin’ on, and where the hell and highwater swirls ‘round to the knees.
